Chegamos novamente em Manaus!! / We arrived back in Manaus!!

Chegamos novamente em Manaus!! Deu tudo certo no barco, e assim que der mando informações completas. So tenho uma coisa a dizer: TODOS SIMPLESMENTE AMARAM!!!

We arrived back in Manaus!! It was everything perfect at the boat adventure, and as soon as I have more time (at the airport) I'll send complete information, ok? All I can say is that everyone just LOVED IT!!

Aventuras no Barco / Boat Adventure
Guess what I did today? I woke up at 5am from a hammock which was surprisingly comfortable to see the morning colors of the sunrise. I held a sleepy sloth in my hands and played in the water with pink dolphins. We went to an Indian village and had time to lie in the sun all with 87 other exchange students from 21 countries from around the world. A day to remember.

Yeah, with 87 exchange students on one boat. That means a little bit of sleep with lots of annoying late-sleeping exchange students and even the crew. And it all ends up in ghost stories. With all that we have to celebrate three birthdays. Today it was Tom’s (Australia) and tomorrow Magda’s (Polonia) and mine. Unique days for all of us. But to celebrate your birthday in Brazil, in the Amazon, that’s really cool. You’ve heard what they say about what we’ve done today, only one word can describe this: AMAZING!

Bueno, como describir esta experiência de emociones y grandes aventuras? Hemos tenido la gran oportunidad de ver cosas increibles, miedo, emocion, de todo. Hoy despertamos temprano para ver el amanecer, tuvimos la oportunidad de tener en nuestras manos um oso perezoso , un yacare cosas que nunca olvidaremos, aparte de convivir con 87 intercambistas , una experiência inolvidable, no ahy como describir, se tiene que vivir!

Take 87 exchange students, one coordinator Debora, two monitors Adriana and Nina and one Rotary chaperone to start off. Mix that with three boats, excellent chefs, guides legais, mosquitoes chatos, fofas spiders and as many grasshoppers one could possibly find. Its then time to add some flavor in the form of sticky repellant, coloridos fish, pink dolphins and sleepy sloths. hammocks, lots of bushes but more water, sunburns and one-almost-broken-foot, brazilian bathing suit, bastante alegria, three birthdays.

Manaus!!
Bom Dia a todos!
Bem vindos a capital do estado do Amazonas, Manaus. Chegamos sexta-feira de manhã depois de uma viagem tranqüila de quase 2 horas de Presidente Figueiredo até aqui.
Assim que chegamos a nosso hotel, os meninos já vibraram: estamos hospedados no Tropical Hotel de Manaus, um cinco estrelas MARAVILHOSO e com muita opção de lazer, incluindo uma piscina de ondas, quadra de tênis, duty free e até mini zoológico: e tudo, dentro do hotel!! Almoçamos em um restaurante delicioso e partimos para nosso primeiro dia de atividades em Manaus. Visitamos o Bosque da Ciência (INPA) onde todos tiveram a oportunidade de ver animais típicos da região. Em seguida, fomos ao Centro de Instrução de Guerra na Selva (CIGS), aonde vimos vários animais como macacos, antas, araras, cobras e inclusive animais em extinção, como a onça pintada!
Ontem cedo fomos visitar um dos maiores monumentos deixados pela RICA era da borracha: O Teatro Amazonas. Visitamos também o Palácio Rio Negro e o Mercado Municipal!! À noite, FESTAS!!!! Primeiro, fizemos uma comemoração surpresa para as aniversariantes da viagem: Thomas, Magdalena e Jasmin!! Comemos um delicioso bolo de morango!! Em seguida, presenciamos um espetáculo maravilhoso: O show do Boi Bumbá! É uma dança do folclore popular brasileiro, com personagens humanos e animais fantásticos que gira em torno da morte e ressurreição de um boi! Fomos até o SAMBODROMO assistir o ensaio do Boi Garantido (cores vermelho e branco), e vibramos!! Muita dança, cultura e folclore foram apresentados e claro, nossos intercambistas não passaram despercebidos: ate nos filmaram!!
Hoje tivemos a manhã livre para curtir mais um pouquinho o delicioso café da manhã e a perfeita infra-estrutura do hotel! Agora estamos todos prontos para embarcar no barco, onde vamos dormir 4 noites em redes, como os nativos, e sentir, realmente, a AMAZÔNIA!! Vamos ter a oportunidade de conhecer comunidades indígenas, nadar no Rio Negro e ainda presenciar o espetacular Encontro das Águas dos Rios Negro e Solimões que formam o Rio Amazonas; é um dos maiores espetáculos naturais do Brasil. Também vamos fazer o curso de sobrevivência na selva com instrutores do Exército, nadar com os botos cor-de-rosa entre outras atividades.
No barco vamos ficar sem acesso à internet, portanto mando mais noticias/fotos assim que possível!

Good Morning!
Welcome to Amazonas state capital: Manaus! We arrived here Friday morning after an almost 2 hour bus ride from Presidente Figueiredo.
As soon as we arrived at the hotel, the exchange students were full of excitement: we're staying at the Manaus Tropical Hotel, a WONDERFUL five star hotel with many options, including a wave pool, tennis court, duty free shop and even a mini zoo, everything inside the hotel!! We ate at a delicious restaurant near here and then we set out for out first activities in Manaus. We visited the Science Center where we saw many animals typical of the region including Ariranha, Manatee, and many others. Then we went to visit CIGS, the army training center where a zoo with many endangered animals is located. We saw lots of monkeys, parrots, snakes and even large jaguars.
Early yesterday morning we visited one of the biggest memorial left by the RICH rubber era: the Amazon Opera House. We also visited Rio Negro Palace and Manaus Market. At night we had a surprise for our student’s birthdays: Thomas, Magdalena and Jasmin!! We ate a delicious strawberry cake. And then…PARTY!! We went to a spectacular show, the Boi Bumbá presentation. It’s a dance of the popular folklore, which tells a story about the death and resurrection of an ox (a local legend). We went to the SAMBODROMO of Manaus, and we could see the Boi Garantido (colors red and white) presentation! There was a lot of dancing and culture in the show, which includes hand made costumes of the indigenous people. And our exchange students, of course, were part of the show: the local TV even filmed us!!
Today we had free morning to enjoy a little more the delicious breakfast and the PERFECT infrastructure of our hotel. Now we are ready to start our boat adventure, where we will sleep for four nights in hammocks (as the natives) and we will be able to FEEL the AMAZON! We will visit some Indian communities, swim in Negro river and get to see the spectacular meeting of the waters: Rio Negro and Solimões, which form the Amazon River. We will also have a survival course, swim with the pink dolphins and participate in many other activities. In these days, we won’t have internet access and new pictures will not be available. I'll send more news/pictures as soon as possible.
